Social Media Knowledge Swap!

05/30/2012 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

From Facebook to Twitter to Pinterest and beyond, the world of online sharing and social media seems to be expanding by the second. Well don't worry, you don't have to sell an app to Facebook for a billion dollars to stay ahead of the game! Wednesday, May 30th at noon, Cohab is hosting our first Knowledge Swap, focused on Social Media networks, and how to make the most of them! This isn't your typical class or seminar, this is a small group of social media users, just like you, sitting down to talk about what social media sites they like, why they like them, and giving you their tips and tricks. Current social media networks already up for discussion include Pinterest, Tumblr, StumbledUpon, and of course, Facebook and Twitter. Know another network like the back of your hand? Let us know on the wall here and we'll add it to the discussion! Want to know what this Pinterest thing is all about? Can't understand why anyone needs more than 140 characters to share a thought? Start to get antsy if you can't check in at your current location? Bring your lunch and your knowledge, and join us Wednesday May 30th!

Mac 101 ( Register Now )

Our next CohabU class is for folks who are new to Apple or would just like to get to know their products better.

Thomas Avallone, Mac Apple expert and owner of Maccentric, the only Apple Authorized Service Provider in the Shreveport-Bossier area, present Mac 101 each Wednesday, April 25th - May 9th from 6pm - 8pm.

Here's what you'll learn:

Session 1: The Grand Tour - You will be shown where things are and how to get around on your Mac.

Session 2: Working and Playing - You will be readied to email, surf Safari, listen to some tunes, and use iLife. We will introduce you to some of your computer's applications and how to use them. Plus, learn how to do some basic Mac tasks, including installing and updating software, ejecting media, and creating accounts.

Bonus Feature - Session 2.1: Troubleshooting 101 - This session will cover some of the issues that can occur with your Mac, and provides all the troubleshooting steps you need to resolve an issue yourself. We also provide a lesson that tells you what you can do if your troubleshooting techniques aren't working. For those attendees that want to stick around an additional half hour or so.

Session 3: Your iDevices and the Internet - Got a bunch of digital devices? Want to print, download photos, or connect to the web? Learn how to connect your printer, digital camera, camcorder, and other devices to your Mac, and find out how to use them with it.

Bonus Feature - Session 3.1: Your Mac Cheat Sheet - Again, for those who want to stick around a half hour so, we will provide attendees with and assist them in filling out a helpful sheet to remember Internet settings, account information, computer specs, and other bits of important data.

The class is $125 for non-Cohab members and $100 for Cohab members, students, or military.

You must bring a laptop or other easily transportable Mac (such as an iMac) with you to class to participate. Computers are NOT provided!
